As a Interior Plant Care Division Manager is responsible for all efforts associated with operations, safety, bidding and sales, personnel selection, profit and loss within the Interior Plant Care Division; plans, develops, and leads all strategic initiatives associated sales, personnel management, resource management, within the Interior Plant Care Division; designs short and long-range goals and tactical objectives; broadens the active marketing campaign of the Interior Plant Care Division to preserve existing accounts, engage new clients, and increase market share in the industry; cultivates partnerships with existing and prospective clients; attends meetings, makes presentations, and represents the company as a technical expert in the field of Interior Plant Care; negotiates service contracts; produces annual budgets; ensures compliance with all company-wide policies, programs, and processes; holds self and staff accountable for achieving challenging goals; reviews reports and generates entrepreneurial recommendations; participates actively in trade and professional organizations; performs pre- and actual job site inspections; performs basic job cost and budgeting tasks; reviews, revises, and approves paperwork, billings, enhancements, and purchasing documents; ensures all staff adhere to operational, ethical, chemical, safety, and administrative policies and procedures; selects, develops, motivates, and trains staff; oversees safety meetings; supervises staff; oversees maintenance of equipment and tool inventories; approves time cards; reads elevations and blueprints accurately, creates basic interior plant designs, ; communicates well with others; provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner; interprets all aspects of landscape plans to ensure compliance with codes; meets with architects, vendors, and subcontractors; conducts walk-throughs, completes punch lists, and makes recommendations to customers; reads and understands contracts; attends budget reviews; conducts necessary job documentation; and provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, partners, and staff in a courteous and efficient manner.


Knowledge Areas-  Principles, practices, and methods associated with Interior Plant Care, estimating, marketing and sales, horticulture and safety, proven techniques that satisfy gross margin goals, overall profitability, and other key performance metrics; budget management, monitoring, and cost control techniques; strategic and operational planning, human resource programs, and continuous process improvement; operational reports; Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and/or company software as well as company software applications; administrative procedures, operational decision making, and supervision; business development, human resources, and marketing; motivation, coaching, and training; profit and loss statements, business trends, and sales statistics; local environment, business directories, and competitor accounts to identify prospective clients; company customer service objectives, norms, and strategies; safe work practices; basic mathematics; chemicals, contracts, and building codes; landscape plans and blue prints; walk-through process; project management; time management; and landscape code compliance.


Skills- Manage all aspects (e.g., schedule labor, order materials, administrative paperwork, dispatch routes) of multiple projects; assign, organize, and track every maintenance job to ensure profitability and customer satisfaction; develop, implement and monitor the annual divisional strategic plan, operating budget, and procedural controls to meet financial objectives; manage the numbers while leading a team to improved performance; perform job cost estimates; conduct industry-wide research; read, interpret, and understand specifications and contracts; lead a diverse workforce across multiple operational and support functions; work within the Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office, and/or company software; communicate effectively in verbal and written form; consistently make high-impact decisions; build and maintain effective relationships with vendors, partners and company staff; provide excellent customer service by ensuring client needs are fulfilled in an accurate, complete, and timely fashion by demonstrating courtesy, efficiency, and professionalism; interpret landscape plans, contracts, and procedures; meeting, time, and project management; safety practices; supervision; work independently; and basic mathematics.

  • People Management: Responsible for staffing, training, and performance management; approves all paperwork; complies with all human resources procedures; views employees as assets.

  • Business Acumen: Proactively manages the business portfolio as a profit center; increases revenue, leverages resources, and tracks expenses to ensure revenue, efficiency, and gross margin goals are met.
  • Job Quality: Understands the relationship between job quality and customer service, satisfaction, and retention; ensures landscape and horticulture quality standards are met for every job.
  • Interior Plant Care: Demonstrates professional knowledge regarding interior plants, horticultural practices, pest control, interior plant care maintenance procedures, and water management.
  • Decision Quality: Consistently makes effective, timely, and sound decisions; solicits information from multiple sources prior to making a decision; considers implications and contingency plans associated with all decisions.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Treats others with respect, collaboration, and support in such a way that work relationships are improved and morale is increased; communicates well with others.


An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes:  at least two (2) years of professional experience involving business management, operational leadership, and strategic planning in the Interior Plant Care industry.

Pre-employment: Incumbents must sign the Non-disclosure Agreement prior to their first day on the job.

License: A valid class C driver’s license, which must be maintained throughout employment in this job classification, is required at the time of appointment.

Certifications: Landscape Industry Certified Manager – Interior; Within 1 year of employment.

Language:  While not required, basic bilingual English and Spanish skills are preferred for this classification.

Working Conditions:  Must be able to move through existing business surroundings, and perform services without causing any disruption or interruption to client’s work environment.

Background Investigation:  Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness.  Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.  Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation and/or drug test.

Introductory Period:  Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.
